UAV Weaponization Kit - SLAM

UAV Weaponization Kit - SLAM
Zeus has developed, under the guidance of DRDO, a UAV weaponization kit (UVW). It is christened SLAM literally meaning destroy and having an acronym Safe and Lethal Aerial Munitions. UVW consists of an aircraft grade Ejector Rack Unit (ERU) and UAV Dropped Munitions (UDM). ERU are of three types with the capacity of one UDM 8 Kg (Agnibaahu), One UDM 25 Kg (Vajrabaahu) and three UDMs of 25, 15, 15 Kgs (Tribaahu). It consists of 6 types of UDMs with weights ranging from 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, and 25 Kg.
Lethality and Economy
- Anti-personnel, Anti-Roof and Anti-Vehicle roles
- 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, 25 Kg munitions with 40-45% warhead wt
- Aerial alternative to mortar, RPG rockets, tank/arty shell
- Considerably economical compared to micro-missiles
- Multiple UDM delivery per mission (Tribaahu)
- 3 times warhead in same weight class
Safety and Scalability
- Dual safety in ERU and Triple safety in UDM as per MIL STD
- Health monitoring & Emergency jettison in UDM
- Release confirmation & pre-programmed self-destruct
- UVW compatible to any UAV with lift capacity
- Integrated to 10+ drones
- Separate or integrated weapon control console

Safe
Major benefit of the UVW is its capability to integrate with any drone. Since the design is made as if aircraft ejector is being made, it has dual safety as per MIL STD 331. This means there is one mechanical and one electronics safety. No accidental drop of UDM is possible from the UAV. UDMs have multiple types warheads like fragmentation, anti-vehicle, anti-roof an anti-tank.
The UDMs have triple safety and an electronic fuze. The first safety is the activation of fuze only after the release command for the bomb drop is given. Without the release command the fuze is inactive and hence not in a position to detonate the UDM. Second safety is time delay to enable the mother UAV to reach a safe distance from the UDM. Third and final safety is the detonation on impact. Since dealing with explosives safety has been the primary criteria for design. Continuous health monitoring of the UDM happens for reliability.
