Precision Guidance Kit - SATEEK
PGK is a retrofittable kit that can convert an existing normal/dumb mortar into a guided/smart mortar. It is christened SATEEK Hindi for accurate and an acronym (Smart Autonomous Target EngagE and Kill). PGK is based on the concept of GPS based guidance that is independent of the firer, moment the mortar bomb is out of the barrel. The firer programs the mortar with GPS coordinates of the target and the onboard computer on the mortar then guides the mortar towards the target using canards. Programming of the mortar is done using a hand-held fuse setter. PGK achieves a CEP of 10m compared to 150-200m when mortar bomb is fired without PGK.

Induction of PGK makes many missions possible like it will deliver single shot kill probability i.e., no loss of surprise element for high value target. The accuracy enables our infantry assault team to be nearer to the enemy while still firing the mortar. Enemy will need a safe distance of 400m compared to our 50m or so. Since the PGK is fully autonomous, it alleviates the need for forward observation post (OP), the most dangerous position to be in.
Literature enumerates that as opposed to standard conventional laying that requires 18 firings to complete a mission, PGK will need only two reducing logistics.
